Bespoke Commissions
Choose from a selection of elegant gates, custom-made hand railings, staircases and balustrades being the larger elements of ironwork which would initially come to mind, to the smaller essentials for your home including curtain poles and matching tie backs, fireside companion sets, individual fire tools, shelf brackets, ceiling brackets, door grates, personalised post boxes, to name but a few. Please take the time to have a look through our gallery of work.
We’re also happy to work with your own design, or alternatively we can use your ideas and develop them into a new concept for you. We can also replicate any historic item or piece you may cherish that has sentimental value.
Every item you find in the Swallow Forge universe has been designed, expertly crafted and selected for its unique qualities and aesthetics. We love a quirky item which is why you’ll find so many interesting products within our remit.
Design Procedure
Sometimes it’s difficult to know where to start with your ironwork project but we’re here to help. We’ll use our experience and creativity to guide you effortlessly through all 3 stages of our design and development process.
It goes without saying that your commission would also include an installation service where required. Everything will be made in-house and fitted on site by Swallow Forge, making your life much easier and less complicated.
A stress-free experience combined with a beautiful end product is what we aim to achieve.
Stage 1: Brief
When Swallow Forge receives your initial enquiry, we’ll start the creative process by gathering all the relevant information for your ironwork including your desired dimensions, location, fixings and finishes, along with your initial design thoughts.
Where appropriate, we’ll then use our archive of traditional ironwork designs, together with our own portfolio of work to refine a style and design for you that’s what you’re looking for.
At the end of this initial stage, we should have a good idea of how many elements will be involved in your design, what kind of process your project will require and how much time it will take us to complete.
Stage 2: Site Survey
If necessary, we’ll arrange and complete a site survey, take as many measurements and reference photos as possible and discuss design options with you.
We’ll then use the measurements and information we’ve gathered to sketch out our initial thoughts which we’ll share and discuss with you to arrive at a cost for the project or works to be completed.
Stage 3: Finalised Designs
On approval of the costs, we may either create a physical sample in the forge to demonstrate certain elements or details for your project, or for more complex commissions, we may use our CAD designers to draw this. We can also use 3D models to help us bring the design process to life for you. These methods can help you confirm all the details are correct and that our costs reflect your requirements.

We also have an online shop where you can order from our standard range of products. Please click here to be beamed up to our shop.
